Overtime & shift pay
Norway overtime & shift-pay rules
Overtime starts when work exceeds the applicable statutory ordinary-hours limit, normally 9 hours in 24 hours or 40 hours in 7 days. Work above contracted hours but below the statutory limit is normally additional work (merarbeid), not statutory overtime. The overtime premium is at least 40%. Some shift, night and Sunday arrangements use 38- or 36-hour weekly limits. Night work is generally 21:00–06:00. Night, Saturday/Sunday and most public-holiday supplements depend on the contract or collective agreement and do not automatically make the hours overtime. For work on 1 May or 17 May, the app enforces at least a 50% premium when no higher configured holiday rate applies.
Leave entitlements / tracking
Manager-adjustable values used by the Requests balance tracker. Defaults reflect common statutory minimums, but collective agreements and NAV decisions can give different rights.
Vacation is tracked in Norwegian statutory “virkedager” (Monday–Saturday, excluding Sundays and Norwegian public holidays). Change sick-child days to the employee's actual entitlement (for example 15 or a higher NAV-approved amount).
